Roaming

Roaming fraud is a serious global concern jeopardizing roaming revenue. Nowadays, combating and preventing losses caused by roamers’ fraudulent activities is a top priority. Accurate and reliable information is the key to success for roaming departments and, with many updates each week, it’s a challenge to ensure that all correct data is available. The most efficient approach is to have one central system which is available to every department from anywhere on the web.

NRTRDE

Near Real-Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE) allows mobile operators to identify roaming fraud within hours, rather than days or weeks.

Built upon our industry-leading Symphony™ Mediation data collection and management platform, the Xelex NRTRDE solution not only transforms call detail records (CDRs), but provides operators with a powerful suite of complementary value-added services as well.

With Symphony NRTRDE, operators also gain real-time visibility into all network-related data as well as the ability to filter, aggregate, and transform data into any and all required formats. It’s a solution ideal for mixed or converged networks.

Only Xelex offers fully integrated functions for seamless management of all types of data streams.

Symphony enables you to send roaming partners’ CDRs to their respective home networks, and to receive your subscribers’ roaming information from other networks. After receiving roaming CDRs from your partners, Symphony sorts them, translates them to the fraud management system format you specify, and routes them back to you in near real-time.

Features of Symphony NRTRDE:

  • Use your existing data mediation system or deploy Symphony Mediation
  • Input record filtering for messaging, translation and delivery
  • Deploy your choice of any IP connectivity (GRX, VPN, or direct link)
  • Interface with other NRTRDE vendors, partners and clearing houses
  • Supports all record types (voice, data, SMS, GPRS)
  • Support of file transfer monitoring and reporting, including TD.35 delivery report, error reporting, activity and traffic reports
  • Flexible file (data) transmission frequency based on customer’s requirements
  • Supports Service level agreements (SLAs) to guarantee timely delivery of data

Near Real-Time Fraud Reports

Symphony provides reports for HPMNs that wish to continue receiving HUR reports in full compliance with GSMA PRD FF.04: High Usage Report Format and Contents. With usage based on NRTRDE data, these reports represent an evolution of HUR reporting because the use of NRTRDE data enables operators to limit their financial risk much more rapidly.

These reports are readily available. As a result, roaming fraud analysis can remain separated from home fraud analysis. Also, if all an operator needs is “the basics” via the receipt of near real-time roaming high usage, we can alarm on these events and send a report, email or SMS.

Xelex is in a unique position to provide this value-added service because of our experience and expertise in rating records.
